Here I Am in The Motor room of an Office Building In the West End of London. It contains 6 Elevonic 401 Controllers, each with seperate generators and startup panels. 4 standard cars and 2 scenic cars Installed Mid 1980s.

Nowadays even when DC currents are required rectifiers can be used to convert AC mains power. And today more efficient AC motors are used instead of DC ones.

I remember working on the old IBM micro relays used in some controllers. the pins use to jam all the time and it was so hard to find. I hated those.lol

Yes. Relays are still used but are now encased in plastic and much smaller. These are the last type of controller that used this type of relay design. Likewise Generators are no longer used to provide DC power. Varible AC drives are installed apart from old modernised Gearless machines when the generator is replaced with transformer and ripple filter boxes.

In the middle of the video a few old-fashioned relay switches are seen at the lower part of the controller cabin. So does this controller design reflect a transition state bringing the era of such old switching equipment to an official end?
