i will add, yes it is true that if you have a recording and you speed up the play back by a mere 5% you hear a 10-20 tempo increase and a semitone transposition. Metallica's live shows of this time, James did not sing with his harmonics so high (your voice cannot change the pitch of fundamental harmonics, though they slightly lower with age)Dragonforce is a common band to do this on blistering guitar solos because they can't play them, but they suck so no comment on them.

Know what?! Go and FUCK yourself, YOU think you look big, dumb arse piece of shit.

They sped the song up TO raise the pitch. It doesn't take much speed adjustment to see major differences in the music. I can almost guarantee that's what your program does to "shift the pitch" of the song- speed up the frequencies. Oh, and way to delete my comment. Makes you look REAL big.

Also from wiki "However, James Hetfield's voice is the same pitch as the other songs on the album, therefore, most likely, only the pitch of the instrumentation was raised, not the speed." NOT THE SPEED ;)

Well according to wiki, they did speed this song up.

Proof now, or your "facts" are false.

This version sounds awesome, but I believe this is how the ACTUAL recording sounded. The RTL album was sped up slightly in the recording process, hence why all the instruments and vocals sound so much higher pitched than they did in concert.
