[STORY HERE, BTW. :) Videos are not mine; No copyright infringement intended.]Sam woke me early the next morning with her cell phone ring tone next to my ear. "...I'm burning up, burning up, for you, baby. Burning up, burning up..." I groaned, partly because it was almost an hour before school started, and partly because I had once again talked myself out of liking the Jonas Brothers. My river had stopped again. Why was I constantly in this like/dislike situation? "Get up, Ring." Sam said, blasting the songs into my ear. "Come on!" "Alright." I moaned when Sam hit "PLAY" on the song "S.O.S." for the fourth time. "I'm up, I'm up." "So tell me." Sam said over toast and cereal. "You're going over to the Jonas Brothers' house every single day of the week?" I nodded. "That makes you one of the most popular kids in school!" she exclaimed. "You're sooooooooo lucky!" I rubbed my head, eager to change the subject. "Shouldn't we be heading to school now?" I rode Joe's bike to school, with Sam, of course. She insisted on sitting in the back seat. On the way there, reporters and the press pursued us. "Ring Daniels!" one screamed, holding out a microphone. "You are being tutored by Nick Jonas, is that correct?" I ignored them, pedaling faster than I ever had before. Sam enjoyed the speed, waving her arms around and screeching, "WHEEEEE!" I managed to turn into an alley and lost the press, and then quickly stored the bike in the janitor, making Sam promise not to leak anything to the reporters. Then, we went separate ways to class. On the way there, students I didn't know waved hi to me. I waved back hesitantly. Instantly I knew that Sam was right: I had become one of the most popular kids. In homeroom, Nick Jonas took the seat next to me again. "Hey." He whispered, ignoring the stares and hopeful glances from the other pupils. "Listen, are you doing anything tomorrow, Friday night?" I frowned. Now I had to spend my spare time with them, too? "No, not really." I said after a while. What was the point in lying? "Cool." He said. "Do you want to hang out with me, Joe, and Kevin?" His offer ran through the class, and almost everyone turned their attention toward our conversation. Even the reporters outside the window were listening. I couldn't say no in front of all those people, so I did the next best thing. "Can I bring my friend Sam along?" Nick shrugged. "Sure. So it'll just be right after tutoring, okay?" I nodded as the bell rang, and then class started. That day at school, it was strange for me. Everyone wanted Sam and me to sit with him or her at lunch, which had never happened before. Roselyn Bryan, the most popular girl in school, with the social status right under the Jonas Brothers, gave me two tickets to the newest amusement park. Her brother, Riley, invited us to his sixteenth birthday party. And all day, reporters followed me everywhere. Like I said, it was pretty weird. After school, I wheeled Joe's bike out of the closet and to the gray car. Kevin opened the trunk and lifted the bike into it, while Nick seated himself in the front seat and Joe in the back. "Wow, you really know how to take care of a lent bike." Kevin noted, slamming the trunk door shut. "Usually, our stuff comes back broken or bent in some way." I shrugged. "It's just a bike." What was the big deal? Then it hit me, the meaning of those simple words: it was trust, trust that wouldn't break or bend that easily. *I promise I'll upload the next one really soon. :) Youtube didn't let me upload yesterday, I don't know why, but I'd try today. |
