That being said, I think the whole "Boycott Beijing Olympics" thing is totally sickening and, yes, racist (though it's all over anyhow). Did Austrailia hold the Olympics because it was a "morally qualified" country? Never.

I'm not ignoring certain laws like affirmative action some countries in the region have/had in favor of the natives against ethnic Chinese (from which some might argue that Chinese are only being "defensive" and if any kind of racism is found in them, it's counter-racism), but it's just wrong when Chinese describe themselves as "the only victims of racism." I don't know what "wai loh" and "hak gwai" mean. There're many derogative words they use to call their dark-skinned neighbours, though.

A little bit out of the topic, the best examples of Chinese racism (albeit not necessarily or exactly Han Chauvinism) can be widely observed in Southeast Asia, where the whole business is monopolized by a handful of Chinese. Often seen as being an extremely exclusive entity, or rather supernational, they have a not-so-friendly reputation for never allowing non-Chinese locals to chanllenge their economic hegemony.

There is racism in all countries...You've just specified China...Your point?Plus Gwai Loh is actually not considered to be racist in south China, I know this because I lived there for 4 years. Also, Hak Gwai is not considered racist in many parts of China...These words are used in context to describe a person. An example "he is the asian guy" - Westerner COMPARED TO "he is gwai loh" (or "he is a white guy") - Chinese person.Lol at you.

OK well as the Chinese are also racist against Japanese people so you are right not all the Chinese are racist well how the hell do Chinese people in Australia call Japanese people hey you fucking Jap or something.Well Jap in terms mean for Japanese in short term but when my so called online GF what suppose to be if she does exist heard the word Jap and she misunderstood with the offensive term of Jap so let see if you call them Jap and you problaby have someone to kick your ass.

LMAO my bad. wrong vid. Anywayz... back to the debate. I quite like this topic. You do have truth in your videos. But has anyone ever told you how intimidating you come across as? I mean, a WHOLE CHANNEL dedicated to tring to "destroy China"?Of course all Chinese would be patriotic. It's their identity. So... if you're gonna try to change what's wrong, try not to insult a nation in the process.
lollyjar (September 3, 2008 at 12:56 am)
Heeey! You've deleted most of my comments when I had really good arguments! Why did you delete them? Were you unable to rebut them or something?

I KNOW what Han chauvinism is. I'm Taiwanese myself, and I've experienced the discrimination before. I hate it.Plus, Han Chauvanism is mainly targeted at the minority groups (han/non-han) in China. Eg. Taiwanese, Tibeten, Mongolian... etc. Also, you are over analysing the naming of "Zhong Guo".
lollyjar (September 3, 2008 at 12:39 am)
No i'm am not an apologist for Chinese racism. I remind my elders whenever they use 'gwai lou/hak gwai'. it's just that many chinese are oblivious to the derogatory attachment to the word, & the severity of it's usage. so please don't hate chinese because of the loose usage of these terms. there is little education among the nation so we need to educated them. It must be approached properly. i understand your video is informative, but it wouldn't be a good approach as it would be intimidating.
lollyjar (September 3, 2008 at 12:30 am)
Your first point is correct. i agree and share that same view. However the point I was making was that "gwai loh" & "hak gwai" are used in colloquial speech, mainly amoung lower socio-econimic backgrounds. Eg- my family had little education. So although they knew what 'gwai lou' & 'hak gwai' literally meant, they didn't realise it was offensive because they grew up with the term. these days, more educated people use the term 'wai guo ren' (manderin), which means 'foreigner'.
