As the commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, Royal Irish regiment of the British Army, Colonal Tim Collins gave a rousing speech to his men on the eve of the Iraq war. Five years on he talks to Sir David Frost about the British military presence in Iraq, saying he is more optimistic about progress in the country than at any time since the war began.

Collins has the Ulsterman's distinctive gift of spare yet eloquent speech. How unfortunate that intra-Army intrigue and political correctness combined to curtail a potentially brilliant career. The West needs many more like him to state the case against Jihadism--and its Leftist allies. Sadly, these seem to be in short supply. If the appeasers and defeatists (see above) have their way, the Jihadist problem will indeed "hunt" us for years to come.
