Debate here:- http://axiomgate.proboards61.c... is the Swoon Theory? Did Jesus survive the crucifixion? The swoon hypothesis refers to a number of theories that aim to explain the resurrection of Jesus, proposing that Jesus didn't die on the cross, but merely fell unconscious ("swooned"), and was later revived in the tomb in the same mortal body. Although this hypothesis has not been widely held by scholars, it has had noteworthy advocates for hundreds of years.Early proponents of this theory include German Karl Friedrich Bahrdt, who suggested in around 1780, that Jesus deliberately feigned his death, using drugs provided by the physician Luke to appear as a spiritual messiah and get Israel to abandon the idea of a political messiah. In this interpretation of the events described in the Gospels, Jesus was resuscitated by Joseph of Arimathea, with whom he shared a connection through a secret order of the Essenes—a group that appear in many of the "swoon" theories.Around 1800, Karl Venturini proposed that a group of supporters dressed in white — who were, with Jesus, members of a "secret society" — had not expected him to survive the crucifixion, but heard groaning from inside the tomb, where Jesus had regained consciousness in the cool, damp air. They then frightened away the guards and rescued him.A third rationalist theologian, Heinrich Paulus, wrote in various works from 1802 onwards that he believed that Jesus had fallen into a temporary coma and somehow revived without help in the tomb. He was critical of the vision hypothesis, and argued that the disciples must have believed that God had resurrected Jesus. Friedrich Schleiermacher endorsed a form of Paulus' theory in the early 1830s.A number of theories that suggest Jesus travelled to India also entail his survival of the crucifixion. In particular, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Movement, spelled out this theory in his 1899 book Jesus in India.[edit] 20th centuryMichael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln, in their 1982 book Holy Blood, Holy Grail, speculated that Pontius Pilate was bribed to allow Jesus to be taken down from the cross before he was dead. In 1992, Barbara Thiering explored the theory in depth in her book Jesus and the Riddle of the Dead Sea Scrolls and on her web site "The Pesher of Christ" in the reference section. In 2006, Baigent published The Jesus Papers, a book that describes how Jesus may have survived the crucifixion. Other 20th-century proponents of various "swoon theories" include:Ernest Brougham Docker (1920, in If Jesus Did Not Die on the Cross) Robert Graves & Joshua Podro (1957, in Jesus in Rome) Hugh J. Schonfield (1965, in The Passover Plot) Donovan Joyce (1972, in The Jesus Scroll) J.D.M. Derrett (1982, in The Anastasis: The Resurrection of Jesus as an Historical Event) Holger Kersten (1994, in Jesus lived in India) (Text taken from wiki:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S... first of all jesus was a jew and he was killed on a friday.the jews would not have aloud the body to stay on the cross going into their holy sabbath, they would have had him taken down before the sabbath.they had enough prof that jesus was dead.roman would not have taken him down if he was alive so when joseph asked for the body it would have been a roman that confirmed jesus death.pilate would not give the body over if jesus was still alive.also jesus died fast cause of the wounds he had earlier

TRUTH? Man this is like almost hundreds of years ago. I don't believe in the bible because it came to the hands of those who are hungry of power. IT has been omitted and compiled to fit their plans. The Council of Nicea is the one responsible for this. They edited the contents of the bible. they were the ones who selected which book will be included and which will be discarded. There is no intervention of any gods only human manipulation. "It served us all, this myth of christ."- Pope Leo X

the blood can still DRAIN out! ...liquid flows to the lowest point, so gravity would have caused the blood to drain out! ...this video is just conspiracy theories..jesus' teachings are what matter!

the romans left the crucified to rot on the crosses, They did not allow the return of the body to family or burial, so cgreen96 how do you explain that
cgreen96 (December 31, 1969 at 11:59 pm)
jesus died quicker then others because he was so severely beaten and tortured before he was acually nailed to the cross... and another thing.. the reason why the romans beleved he was dead after they pierced his side was because there was fluid (water) mixed with his blood.. if he was still alive.. that wouldnt have hade happend. there was no way roman soldiers would let a man sentence to death off the cross without being 100 percent sure he was dead..

That's not the question of the video... That is another topic, another video and another day.

This of course presumes the existence of someone named Jesus I presume. Have we proven that, or do not worry about it?
