"does not have the power to step outside time" hmm i think some truths that Jesus promulgates in the Sermon on the Mount are not confined in their relevance to only that period but are timeless and universal.just my opinion.nice day!

Mockery is as much as part of human nature as reverence. They are two sides of the same coin that goes rolling down the hill during your brief life. You can't stop life from evolving. Jesus didn't say that though, because the Bible, et al, is a historical document, just like all historical documents; that is, it bears the mark of the time in which it was produced and does not have the power to step outside time. Should this offend Christians? Only the lighter-headed ones.
