This is experimental Breeder reactor 1 out on the Idaho Plains about half an hours drive short of Craters of the Moon NP. If you have even a peripheral interest in such things this is a great place! Its worth going just to see the engines for the Nuclear Powered Bomber. The breeder reactor itself is actually not that great to look at, especially if you've seen modern generations of nuclear reactors, however all the stuff they've got to go with it is great! They have a hot cell, manipulator arms you can play with, and the guided tours are pretty good! The guide assured me the breeder reactor was constructed under the 'atoms for peace' directive. I had a more cynical view... I mean Im sure Iran would also claim its only pursuing nuclear technology for 'peaceful' purposes, ya right!

The B-36 Mammoth was the only aircraft to carry a nuclear reactor. The reactor itself did not power the aircraft, but the plan was feasible. AMERICA !@#$ YEAH!
