There are two ways to reach the Saguaro Del Norte Boating Site.. One is to take the Bush Highway north from U.S. Highway 60 to the Saguaro del Norte Recreation Site turnoff. The other way is to take the Beeline Highway (State Route 87) from either the McDowell Road turnoff in Mesa or from Shea Boulevard near Fountain Hills. About eight miles after crossing the Verde River, turn right at signs indicating the Saguaro Lake Recreation Area. Once 40 miles from Phoenix; it is now within the $500K track home reaches of the ever growing metroplex of Phoenix...But, still it's a wonderous site to turn up that dusty, two lane highway and right past the fire-chared hills of open desert...there it is...arise from the pastels of the surround mountains...worth the trip...good cafe there too!
