I found your video after noticing the same issue while cleaning my 10/22 after its second trip to the range. I thought it was my fault because of the way you need to use a flat-head screwdriver to assist putting the bolt back in the receiver, and that I might have scratched the paint off. I see that it is more likely just the bolt itself rubbing it off. I guess only time will tell if this will have a negative impact on the longevity of the gun.

Does the trigger seem to help much on the target model? I think this one breaks around 4-5 pounds is and one of the cleanest I've seen on a factory gun. I've been debating it, but it's a lot of money to do it.

Sometimes the bolt is off..though to be honest, I've found it didn't matter "too" much as you can see from how much movement the bolt has on the unilateral bolt guide rod. For sure get a good trigger...I have the TG2000..but I also have a KiDD....that's the best..but at $300 won't be too sure if you want to spend that much.

That is nice...I am a big fan of Volquartsen and Scott Volquartsen and I often chat and such when I see him at the SHOT show. I got a few VQ rifles as well. I think at one point, I had like 25 10/22 rugers in different configurations...I'm sure I'm down to about a half dozen now as I got rid of a lot in the past few years. I like shooting that deluxe one quite a bit..it's a simple shooter...natural shooter...and purposely made ugly so it won't be noticed. Good Shootin!

Never! >:) This is my first 'toy' gun and I have a lot of plans for it. I contacted Brownells (here in Iowa) for some paint and ceramic coating materials and also Volquartsen (also in Iowa) for some parts. It's nice being so close to two great companies. But, that's a whole new set of videos in a few months. :)How many 10/22's you got? I see you fancy them as well. I really like that one with the deluxe stock, muzzle weighted barrel and Volquartsen parts. I bet that's a gnat driver!

Ok..I think you should sell that 10/22...to me. :)

when I got the gun I took it apart and cleaned it. Basicly that was when I noticed the paint flaking in the reciever. I was disapointed with the finish. I have only had the 10/22 for a couple months. I have only put about 150 rounds through the gun. It does fire flawless so I dont think the flaking of the paint has hidered the gun. (It just takes away from the look) I took a wire brush and cleared out most of the flaking paint in the reciever so i wouldnt have to deal with the paint chips

That's basically about all that mine is doing for now. Was it doing it before you shot it or after? How has it held up?

My ruger 10/22 has the same problem of paint flaking inside the reciever. Mine was black and it just chips away. however mine isnt flaking on the outside its just in the inside were the bolt rides. it hasnt caused a issue other then makes the inside look kinda bad. |
