Yes, Charmander is good with Speeed, Attack, and Special Attack.

I destroy Brock with just Squirtle and his Bubble. Then I look for an Oddish (or Bellsprout; R/B differences =/) and make use out of it/them against Misty and that annoying Bubblebeam attack.

Yeah, and that's why I love him so much! =3 It's a challenge in the beginning with him so yeah...xD I usually catch a Mankey or a Caterpie to evolve into a Butterfree to get past Brock and then I level up my party to beat Misty's butt. lol

Charmander? I don't use him because of how difficult it would be to complete the first two gyms.

Charmander has good Speed, Attack, and Special. Bulbasaur has good Special. Squirtle has good Defense. So, it depends on opinion.
