you can find some articles about it if you google Tekken 6 import arcade or something like that. Basically Namco said the U.S. and U.K. weren't worth releasing it because only a few hardcore players would play, and that there isn't enough support for arcades anymore (somewhat true.) But instead of allowing people to import the game to the U.S., they refuse sales to the U.S. so you have to find a dealer in the "grey market."

Technically, namco japan is releasing the "international" version. It's not like they imported the japanese version. This is really no different to countries like hong kong, phillipines, etc. since they always get it from japan directly, but a first for the US I guess.

I had heard arcades in the US were importing Tekken 6. Why isn't Namco releasing the arcade version in the states?

This is Tekken 6, its an imported machine. Tekken 6 is not coming to the US for the arcade. However, it will be coming to the US for PS3
