http://mininoteuser.com : This is a boot comparision of the EEE900 and the HP2133 running ubuntu 8.04. The mininote is using a 5400 rpm HDD which I suspect is reponsible for the difference.

the hp comes with linux preinstalled too, and if you up the specs on the asus to equal the specs on the hp, the asus is more expensive

It does not make the Mini-Note the clear winner. The Mini-Note's performance is pretty awful.
