On this video I would like to discuss the very popular belief that there are "no Indians in Mexico".Imagine that. One hundred million people, and not a single Amerindian.A preposterous notion.Official censuses calculate that 12% Mexicans are PURE, UNMIXED Indians.I repeat: PURE, and UNMIXED.Which cannot be said about most folks living in Reservations today.So what about the "mixed race" Mexicans, who supposedly comprise the majority?This begs the question. What does "mixed race" mean?.Am I "mixed race" at 90% Amerindian ancestry?.Technically. YES. And you will be counted as "mixed race" on censuses.Yet; if you choose to identify yourself as a Native, you have every right to. Does this mean that I believe ALL "mixed" people should get to live in Reservations? Not at all. If a "mixed race" individual is predominantly white, or even significantly white. I believe they should be regarded as biracial (or even white). But to deny the existence of PURE and "ALMOST PURE" Indigenous Mexicans is just ridiculous.A person who is 90% or even 80% Indigenous has the right to identify as Indigenous. Don't agree? Then we will have to close most U.S. Reservations due to a lack of "pure" Individuals.
