Sure, look in any biology textbook from a reputable, peer-reviewed publisher and author for the evidence for evolution. Or, alternately, watch DonExodus2's videos, ExtantDodo's, or any of the other myriad videos by scientists (Don is a phd biologist, the Dodo's are medical doctors, as I recall). As for the big bang, read any peer-reviewed physics book (I like Modern Physics by Ken Krane). Or, alternately, watch vids by Phil Plait, AndromedasWake, etc.

@DellNvidia again, (I was hoping for one comment, but unfortunately I need two).The issue of historical accuracy cannot be determined using the bible, because to do so would be circular reasoning. We have to have an outside source of evidence, of which there is nothing that confirms any specific claim from the bible. The Existence of Jesus, the Flood, Creation, The Captivity in Egypt, any of it.In fact, we have evidence _pointing the other way_ eg, evolution, the big bang cosmology, etc.

@DellNvidiaFirst, just because you have a geneology, doesn't mean anything, I could have made it up before christ, after christ, or while christ was alive, doesn't matter.Two, The fact that jesus and paul quoted the old testament tells me nothing, the _men_ who wrote the books could have very well inserted quotes where appropriate, and bits of the OT did exist. So what, that says nothing for the historical evidence, just that they knew the book, which makes sense, given they both preached.

Jesus quoted from 24 different Old Testament books. Also, Apostle Paul quoted 183 Old Testament passages. This is a lot of evidence that the Old Testament is genuine.

Joseph and Mary share the same genealogy from King David up to Adam. God skipped certain names because of sin. Yes, anyone can literally make up false genealogies. The Bible is one book of 66 books which were written at different times. Adam and Eve existed about 4,000 B.C. 4,000 years later, the New Testament confirms the genealogy of the Old Testament.

The book of Luke gives the full genealogy of Mary's father Heli up to the 1st man Adam. Matthew gives the genealogy of Joseph up to Abraham. Mary and Joseph were Jews. Jews are from the tribe of Judah. Jesus was a Jew. Joseph is the seed of King David's son Solomon. Mary is the seed of King David's other son Nathan. Mary and Joseph are the seed of King David, the seed of Abraham. Likewise, Jesus is the seed of King David, the seed of Abraham.

The genealogy given in 1Chronicles is from Abraham up to Adam. I made a mistake in my video. I said Matthew gives the genealogy of Mary and Luke gives the genealogy of Joseph. That is incorrect. Matthew gives Joseph's genealogy and Luke gives Mary's father Heli's genealogy.

Yes, I could have been mean about it, but whats the point in that? As long as he's not mean to me, there's no good reason to be mean to him. He strikes me as someone who is really trying to figure out what it is he believes and why he believes it. Anyone can respect that. I save my uberpwnage for the people who really deserve it, like Fred Phelps, Pat Robertson, John Hagee...And Hugh Jackman... That adamantiumized bastard. |
