DescriptionAntique Japanese religious altar case. Religious items such as this are called zushi in Japan. This particular zushi is in poor condition with cracks, chips, marks and scratches from handling and a very dark patina of age. The metal hinges are also worn though the doors close well. This old Japanese zushi dates from the early Japanese Showa period (1926-1989) or before and was acquired in the historic city of Shizuoka, Japan near the foot of Mt. Fuji.
