Thanks for the info. Didn't think of that. I'll probably sell it in parts if I can't sell it as a whole unit.

Sounds Great. The 3.8L in that car does make more sense. You are going to have quite a bit of wiring ahead of you to switch between the two. When you sell your 3.4L, make sure you mention in the advertisement that its a good MGB motor. People are searching for these for this conversion.

Good conversion though keep it up. I'm converting my 3.4L Camaro to a 3.8L so I will hope to finish before august.

I could be wrong but GM slated the 3.8L for retirement and thought it was already done. Yes, its a good engine. Also, the car tested in this video is heavy compared to most. Its a GT, not a convert with sound deadening, AC and other heavy items. At that, it probably comes in a 2,500Lbs+. The Camaros built in 1993-95 are come in around 3,200-3,600 depending on options. We are not pushing that much around with these engines. Most of these weight 1900-2400 Lbs tops. Moves out pretty well at that.

The 3.8L is still being made GM made the L67 Suopercharged so why would they stop making one of the best egiens of all time? Plus the only way to get more power from a 3.4L is doing a top end swap from. That's when you can see the real power come out of the 3.4L only then. And I'm talking about the Camaro 3.4L not the ones in the lumina and cars like that.

Have you seen the size of our engine bay? The 60* V6 have been transplanted into what is estimated to be a few hundred+ MGBs. Not to mention MGAs, MG Midgets, Triumph TR6 and many Many other little British cars due to its size-cost-weight. The 3.8L is a nice engine but more of a shoe horn and far more in cost due to the size, OBD II system, etc. There may be a dozen or two MGs out there with that motor too. I know of one or two.BTW: GM quit building the 3.8L but has continued the 6-60V6. :-)

3.4L is not a good engine I own a 95 Camaro and at around 4500rpms the engine sounds like it is going to blow up. Have nothing against it, but I like the 3.8L Series II engine that was introduced in the 96 model.

Since this car is not ours, we will not be making any actual time trail tests in any foreseen time frame if at all.... However, we are building several more that may see this. A 3500 V6 that is a later version of the 3.4L along with another 3.4L that is a salvage yard motor with a V6 T5 and a 3.42 limited slip rear end in a 1980 MGB convertible. More 'tests' will come, but in other vehicles. Will be posting more hope to see more out in the next two months. Thanks!!

when you have the engine broken in more, posting some 0-60 pulls to red line would be cool.

Thanks Terry! The Camaro is a nice car. So is the MG. The MG can always use more traction but has limited room for tires. You have us beat there for sure. We have about 1,000lbs less weight so if you can imagine driving your car with that much less to it- its pretty fun!BTW: The PCM to this motor is completely stock with very little issue to the upgrades. I think it could benefit from more air flow with a few more upgrades. There are hundreds of MGs sporting GM 60degree V6 engines. |
