Yeah, my macbook really pisses me off sometimes, because rendering in FCE takes forever with certain things.

I wish I had an iMac. I am saving for one. The JVC GZ-MG360 (or whatever it is) records in .mod (an mpeg2 format), and that can't be handled by most mac software and the quicktime mpeg2 codec is 15 dollars. You can use iMovie '08 to import it, or you can get ffmpegx which is free. I don't know if you have already done this research, but it took me a couple of days to figure out that you can import mpeg2 in iMovie '08, and when I broke that, it took a while to find ffmpegx.
